The Shape of a Commute (Preprint)

A preliminary preprint proposing that commutes be modelled as a sequence of legs, waits and transfers — a shape — rather than a single average duration. Early clustering across a Lagos travel-diary sample suggests at least three distinct commute shapes hiding behind similar average travel times, with implications for how transport planners define 'typical' commutes.
