Reading the Route: A Method for Everyday Journeys

This methods paper documents a coding scheme for turning qualitative accounts of everyday journeys — travel diaries and interview transcripts — into comparable, systematic data without erasing what made each account distinct. The scheme was developed and tested across six Lagos neighbourhoods with very different infrastructure, and is offered here for other researchers studying everyday mobility qualitatively.
